Hadden Park (Kits Dog Beach)
About
Hadden Park is the ultimate “destination” park for Vancouver pet parents. It’s a rare and beautiful space where the city’s high-energy dog culture meets the relaxing vibes of the Pacific Ocean. The park is split into two main sections: a large, open grassy meadow perfect for long-distance fetch, and a wide, sandy beach that serves as the city’s premier “canine social club.”
With the North Shore mountains as a backdrop and the skyline across the water, it is widely considered one of the best spots in the world to be a dog. Because it is almost always busy, it is a fantastic place for highly social dogs to make new friends, while the driftwood logs provide a perfect “human lounge” for owners to watch the sunset.
💡 Barkcouver Tip
Keep a close eye on the Seasonal Hours! Like many Vancouver waterfront spots, Hadden has “Split Hours” during the busy season. From May 1 to September 30, dogs are allowed off-leash only from 6:00 am–10:00 am and 5:00 pm–10:00 pm. During the winter (Oct–April), they can roam free all day (6:00 am–10:00 pm).
Insider Move: If your dog isn’t a fan of the “big pack” energy near the main entrance, walk a little further east along the sand. The crowds tend to thin out near the rockier sections, giving you more space for a private game of water-fetch.
