Charleson Park
About
Charleson Park is one of the most visually stunning and versatile parks in Vancouver. Built into a hillside overlooking the downtown skyline, the park is designed in “levels.” The lower level features an expansive, rolling grassy bowl where dogs have plenty of room for long-distance fetch.
The highlight of the park, however, is the “upper” off-leash area which features a man-made waterfall and a rocky stream. It is one of the few places in the city where your dog can legally play in fresh, running water within a controlled environment. It’s a favorite for “adventure pups” who love to climb rocks and get their paws wet without the salt and sand of the beach.
💡 Barkcouver Tip
Watch the clock for the Waterfall Pond! To keep things fair for everyone, dogs are required to be on-leash at the waterfall between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm during the summer months (June–Sept).
Insider Move: If your dog gets muddy in the grass bowl (and they probably will!), take them up to the waterfall area afterward for a “natural rinse” before you head back to the car or your apartment. It’s the local way to avoid a messy bathtub at home!
