About
Heather Park is a charming neighborhood hub that serves as a vital green space for the South Cambie, Fairview, and Mount Pleasant communities. Long known for its mature trees and historic character, the park received a major upgrade with the installation of a 1,200-square-meter, fully fenced off-leash enclosure.
Designed with extensive community input, this modern dog park is built for both high-energy play and mental stimulation. Unlike older grassy fields, Heather Park uses engineered wood fiber surfacing to ensure year-round usability and cleanliness. It has quickly become a local favorite for those who want a secure, clean, and interactive environment for their pups to socialize safely away from the nearby tennis courts and playground.
💡 Barkcouver Tip
Keep an eye out for the Horse Chestnut trees surrounding the park! While beautiful, their fallen chestnuts (“conkers”) can be toxic if chewed on by dogs. The new fenced enclosure was intentionally placed away from these trees to keep your pup safe, but keep them on a short leash when walking through the rest of the park to the entrance.
Insider Move: If your dog has a lot of “brain energy,” use the agility stepping stones for some “Place” command training before starting the play session—it’s a great way to calm them down before they join the pack!
