Killarney Park
About
The off-leash area at Killarney is a massive, unfenced grassy expanse located on the west side of the park. It occupies the large fields between East 46th Avenue, East 48th Avenue, and Raleigh Street (running right up to the community centre parking lot).
Because this is a primary sports and school hub (Killarney Secondary is right next door), the dog area is designed to balance community use. It is a wide-open “ball-chaser’s dream”—perfect for breeds that need to sprint in long, straight lines. It has a high-energy, social atmosphere, especially in the evenings when local owners gather for a “mega-pack” play session.
💡 Barkcouver Tip
Killarney has some of the most unique seasonal hours in the city to accommodate school and sports schedules:
-
Labour Day to June 14 (School Year): Split hours—5:00 am to 10:00 am and 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
-
June 15 to Labour Day (Summer): All day—5:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Insider Move: If the main field is busy with soccer or baseball (which happens often in the summer), remember that dogs are strictly forbidden on the artificial turf and the diamonds. Stick to the designated western grass field to avoid a chat with the park rangers!
