Oak Meadows Park
About
Oak Meadows Park is a unique, multi-layered green space that feels less like a city park and more like a piece of the wild. While it features organized sports fields and a perimeter jogging track, its heart is a large, unkempt meadow area where dogs are free to roam off-leash.
The off-leash zone is a long, grassy expanse on the west side of the park, bordered by towering evergreens and dotted with old tree stumps. It’s an “informal” and charming space where the community has truly made itself at home. you’ll often find a semi-circle of secondhand plastic chairs left under the trees by locals for neighbors to sit and chat. It’s the perfect spot for those who want a quieter, more natural “backyard” vibe rather than a busy urban enclosure.
💡 Barkcouver Tip
Because this park is unfenced and neighbors the busy Oak Street, it is best suited for dogs with reliable recall. If you have a pup who likes to wander, stick to the center of the meadow area.
Insider Move: Look for the “Insect Hotel” near the 37th Avenue entrance. It’s a part of the city’s Nectar Trail initiative and makes for a very cute photo op with your dog before you head into the off-leash meadow!
