Valdez Park
About
Valdez Park is a quiet, residential green space that feels like a massive shared backyard for the Dunbar community. Located between West 22nd and West 23rd Avenue, this park is essentially one large, open field framed by beautiful, mature Plane trees.
Unlike many parks where the dog area is just a small corner, the off-leash zone here encompasses the vast majority of the park. It is a social hub for the neighborhood—if you have a highly social dog that loves to wrestle and play in a “pack” setting, this is the place to be. Because it’s slightly removed from major transit hubs, it stays relatively local and peaceful, making it a great spot for a relaxed morning or evening session.
💡 Barkcouver Tip
Watch the clock! Valdez has Split Hours. Dogs are allowed off-leash only from 6:00 am to 10:00 am and 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Between 10 am and 5 pm, it becomes an on-leash park to allow for other community uses.
